The year 2020 will indelibly remain a painful memory in the history of Lebanon
The year 2020 will undoubtedly remain in the collective memory of the Lebanese people. This year has brought forward several tragedies and troubles; from the global pandemic, to the disaster of the Beirut explosion and its repercussions, and the ongoing economic and social crisis.
As 2020 draws to an end, we hope that the global pandemic, which has added to the woes of Lebanon and devastated the world, will bid us farewell. We thank the front line workers, and all the women and men who are tirelessly working and sacrificing to help fight this pandemic in every way possible.
We remember the ones we lost in the tragic explosion, the pain of the wounded, and heartbreak of the families of the missing. We await justice and compensation for all those who suffered. And we look forward to the restoration of our beloved Beirut back to its distinguished heritage.
We renew our hope that the coming year will instill a sincere sense of national responsibility among our country’s decision makers, and a will to create a better future for all the Lebanese people, especially the marginalized and the underprivileged, safeguarding their basic rights as citizens of this country.
